Difference Between Glaciers and Icebergs

The difference between a glacier and an iceberg is simple. A glacier is a formation of ice which is permanently land based, and an iceberg is a piece of ice, which has broken away from a glacier in coastal locations, and floats off into the sea.

The icebergs can be large in size sometimes like small glaciers and as global warming increases, these broken off chunks of ice are becoming more frequent in polar seas.

A glacier is different from temporary snow and ice since it remains all year round, whereas the snow and ice tends to melt away in summertime. Winter snow accumulates on the glacier, and in turn becomes compressed by more snow, and so the glacier grows.

Difference Between Concrete and Cement

Concrete contains cement, rocks, sand and gravel. The cement acts as a binding agent between the rocks, sand and gravel, so there is a basic difference between concrete and cement.

The cement is essentially a mix of limestone, calcium, silicon, iron, and aluminum. The mix is heated to high temperature where it forms a marble like clinker. The clinker is ground down into a fine powder, and gypsum is added to form the gray powder we know as cement.

A form of cement was used by the Greeks and Romans but the technology became lost. It was ‘rediscovered’ in about 1700 by adding clay to limestone and heating at high temperatures. The mix, which became known as Portland cement, when hydrated by the addition of water would harden, and is utilized in the construction industry for building many structures.

Difference Between a Rabbit and a Hare

These two animals are often confused, but there are differences between a rabbit and a hare. Although they are both members of the biological order Lagomorpha they are distinct genera and cannot interbreed.

A large difference between rabbits and hares is, that no hares have ever been domesticated. But one species of rabbit has been successfully tamed, and is often kept as a pet, or breeding livestock. Nobody has a pet hare!
